MetaTrader 5 is the world’s most widely used FOREX trading platform. One feature many people love is the ability to build trading bots (called Expert Advisors or EAs) that use the MT5 platform to make trading decisions on your behalf.

It’s pretty awesome.

As a person who builds MetaTrader trading bots for people, a common question I come across is:

Thank you so much for my brand-new trading bot…but for some reason, my MT5 isn’t allowing trading 😦

The most common reason for this is that your MT5 settings are incorrect.

In this article, I’ll show you the settings you need modify on your MT5 to allow your MetaTrader 5 terminal to use your EA.

Follow These Steps to Enable AutoTrading on Your MetaTrader 5

Step 1: Log In to Your MetaTrader 5 😸

Step 2: Select Tools -> Options

Selecting Tools, then Options on your MetaTrader 5 terminal

Step 3: In Options, navigate to the tab ‘Expert Advisors’
