Using a Virtual Private Server (VPS) can be a great way to allow your MetaTrader 5 terminal to trade 24/7 on your behalf…without running on your own computer.

Traders often love to use VPS solutions for the following reasons:

  1. No downtime — most VPS providers guarantee 24 hour a day uptime, eliminating things like power outages, internet drops, and so on.
  2. Fast execution — many VPS providers are closer to the exchanges where trades happen. This can make for faster execution times.
  3. No infrastructure management — if you’ve ever had to spend hours waiting for your computer to update, you’ll know what this is attractive.
  4. You can access your VPS from anywhere in the world — using Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), you can access your VPS anywhere in the world, and from any operating system that supports it.

However, once your VPS has all been set up and ready to go, you might be wondering:

This is nice…but how do I connect to my VPS when it’s all up and running?

I’m glad you asked 😃

I’ll be using ForexVPS.net as my example for this article. I’m not making any recommendations for this product — it’s just what I use and I’ve never had any issues with it.
